Step Count Challenge 2020 week two update

Another active week for participants in the Step Count Challenge 2020. Here's our summary of week two.

Published:15/05/2020

It's almost the end of week two and the half way point for this Step Count Challenge. Our current collective total is 409,303,497 steps, or 183 thousand miles.

We have updated our guidance on walking during social distancing, in line with the Scottish Government's latest advice on outdoor activity.

This week we challenged you to call a colleague for a lunchtime walk, share selfies on your favourite local walk and have a digital detox by spending 2 hours away from tech. Today's challenge is to choose a team anthem, pick a song that captures the essence of you and your team. Need some food for thought? Here are some of our favourites:

The Proclaimers' classic I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), it never gets old:

Katrina and the Waves' ridiculously upbeat Walking on Sunshine:

Kenny Loggins' Footloose is definitely one for the kitchen dancers:

Run DMC's old school hip hop anthem Walk This Way is one for the team with attitude:

And given we collectively walked around the world by the end of week one, how about Daft Punk's Around the World for a challenge anthem?

Lots of positive stories on Twitter this week at #StepCountChallenge and people discovering new paths and walks on their doorsteps and lovely to see families getting involved in the action too.

Our weekly prize draw winners will be announced in Monday's update email. If you are looking for some ideas on keeping your step count up over the weekend, have a read of our blog post compiling your top tips on keeping active around the house.

Stay active and get ready for week three!
