Your goals and pledges
Last week, we asked you to share your personal goals and pledges for this year's autumn Step Count Challenge. From getting outside for regular lunchtime walks to exploring new routes, here's a few pledges and goals shared by those taking part in this year's autumn challenge.
The winning entry was submitted by Aileen from team FAAB Feet Five, who told us how she planned to use the challenge as motivation to get outside during the daylight hours, and help her recover from an injury.
I'm aiming to spend more time outside while it's light, which is not for that long here these days! So hopefully the challenge will be good motivation for this. I've also got a knee injury so haven't been walking as much, so my second goal is to slowly build back up to more gentle walking.
Katie, from team Pimp My Stride, intends to enjoy the colours of autumn more by walking home from work, and spending more time outside during the working day.
My personal goal is start walking home from work and taking opportunities to have small walks and time outside during the day. Autumn is my favourite time of year, so getting out and enjoying the changing leaves is really lovely!
Jacqueline, from team Stirling Sole Sisters, intends to make some positive lifestyle changes during the challenge, and will use the challenge as motivation to get outside even when the weather isn't the best.
I hope to get motivated to go out walking even when the weather is not the best - I always struggle to go out as it gets colder and darker in the evenings. I've set a target of average of 15k steps per day. I'm also incorporating a healthy eating plan so drinking more water, eating more protein and less sugary snacks. Loosing weight is not a priority but would be a bonus.
Getting outside even in the colder, darker evenings was also a goal for Imogen from team Sauntering Squirrels.
To get outside and enjoy nature, and stay active even as it's getting darker and colder.
Larissa, from team Stepping up to the challenge, will use the challenge as motivation to get outside for a lunchtime walk more often.
My personal goal is to get fitter and do a lunch time walk more often than eating at the desk, as the day light hours are short.
Amanda, from team The Kelvinators, intends to move more outdoors to boost her mood and refresh her energy.
My goal is to do 16,000 steps per day, I’ve found my mood has changed with the clocks going back and getting outside to do my steps will help to improve my mood and hopefully make me feel more energised!
Rebecca, from team Sole Sisters, aims to spend more time outdoors enjoying nature during the challenge.
My personal goal is to explore new routes, and take time to be outside and enjoy nature.
